This article aims to explain Marches in Dragons of Atlantis.
Why should I launch a March?
Marching is the primary way of interacting with your Troops, a valuable feature in Dragons of Atlantis. Marching is the blanket term for Attacking, Spying, Reinforcing, Abandoning, and Recalling troops from territories on the Map.
How do I gain troops?
You need some amount of Idle population in order to train Troops. You also need a Garrison or Training Camp of a certain Level to produce a specific kind of Troop. For example, weaker Troops require less Idle population, less time to train, and lower Levels of Garrison or Training Camp, while stronger Troops require more Idle population, more time to train, and higher Levels of Garrison or Training Camp.
I have troops, and I cannot March! Help!
This is likely due to having no Generals. You can appoint Generals from the Officers' Quarters, a structure that can be built in Cities. Only friends on Facebook can be your Generals.
It could also be due to having the maximum amount of Marches allowed active at once. This is dependent on the level of your Muster Point.
How many Troops can be in my March?
This is dependent on the Level of your Muster Point. For example, a Level 1 Muster Point will allow you to March 1 March of 10,000 Troops at once.
Where are my Generals?
In addition to managing them in the Officers' Quarters, you can click on an existing March in order to view the name and Level of the General in charge.
What types of March are there?
The 5 Types of March are:
Attack to try to take over a territory on the Map or attack an Anthropus camp and plunder it. Be careful, though! If the territory is owned by another player, you could face a retaliation from them, their alliance, or even alliances friendly to theirs.
Use a Spying March to gather information on another territory on the Map. Depending on your level of Clairvoyance Researched, Spy Marches will return more detailed information about the territories. You can research higher levels of Clairvoyance in your Science Center.
Reinforce in order to back up a territory already under your control. You can Reinforce in order to protect territories from incoming Attacks.
Abandon to leave a territory altogether. It will free up space for you to take other over territories if you Abandon an owned territory.
Recall to remove troops from a territory while keeping the benefits of owning the territory. Recalling leaves the territory open to attacks, so generally the territory should be Reinforced in order to try to keep it.
What Items can I use on a March?
You can use speedups to speed up a March. You can use various Items, such as Dragon Hearts, to improve the chances for a good outcome. There are also many possibilities for using Dragons and Dragon-related Items on a March. Experiment with Items to see what works best for you!
Is there anything I can't do while Marching?
It is generally the case that Warps that move Cities or Outposts will not work while Marching. We recommend ending all Marches before attempting to use these Items.
